Program Objectives

  1. Get a close up encounter with traditional Muslim community and nature. In an increasingly diversified and global world, we must develop inter-cultural skills of living with different religion and cultures. Terengganu is the dominant Malay state in Malaysia, where a large part of the state population are still living in a rural setting and a Muslim way of life. Spending time in Terengganu will give one a close up view on Islam.

  2. The abundant natural resources of Terengganu provide an opportunity for the learner to get close to nature and experience the natural wonders. The beaches and lakes in Terengganu, the tropical rainforest and the village (Kampung) landscape. Terengganu was probably the first port of contact for the early Asian, especially Chinese immigrants from the North to the Peninsular, try to reflect on how the early settlers have settled down and integrated with the local community.

  3. Explore the opportunities for the young people to connect and develop economic and cultural partnership with the local community; especially the young people. The tour will design in sessions of exchange with local youths, business and government leaders.
     
  4. For Mandarin students with Global Hanyu, the tour will be conducted in Mandarin; hence an immersion in Chinese language is created. For Chinese students from China, this tour will be conducted in English, and a basic course of Bahasa Malaysia will be taught throughout the journey.

  5. To experience the culture of the area and to understand its implications/challenges for growth and development.
